After realizing that she'd been raising Spike to be a servant, Twilight felt terrible and promised to give Spike more free time to enjoy his childhood. Twilight often feels guilty when Spike's upset and while she can lose her temper with him, she never once resorted to hitting him, knowing that if she did, she'd be no better than the elitists that look down on him. When Princess Celestia told Twilight that her first task was to raise Spike as her own, Twilight willingly accepted. She was horrified by the idea of Spike being killed when he was just barely born and defiantly held him close to her, refusing to let it happen. Twilight tends to be skeptical of unproven claims such as her friends' fear of Zecora being an evil enchantress as well as the existence of hexes and curses (though, on the latter point, she's willing to admit that they're not very far-fetched after the return of Nightmare Moon, which she ironically took at face value when Nightmare Moon was largely believed to be just a breezie's tale).įrom the moment she hatched Spike, Twilight knew he would be a part of her life. However, she can lose her cool under stress. Twilight tries to be rational in unfamiliar situations. Even after Twilight becomes good friends with the rest of the main characters, she continues to read and consult books, something Spike won't hesitate to call her out on. In the premier, Twinkleshine says Twilight is more interested in books than friends. Even during her asocial phase, she cared deeply about Spike's well-being and felt guilty whenever Spike was upset about a promise she made being unfulfilled. Thanks to five mares in Ponyville, she opened her heart to friendship and began learning what she can about it. Twilight is introduced as being somewhat asocial due to fear of being judged for a number of things. ![]()
